City's murders down, but gang killings up

SAN DIEGO - Homicides fell 15 percent in San Diego last year, with 58 total killings compared to 68 in 2006, but the number of homicides blamed on gangs soared 56 percent, it was reported Tuesday.

The year's 58th homicide was a woman found inside an abandoned house in the Golden Hill neighborhood, who police said was apparently shot to death.
