SALINAS, Calif.- Monterey County Sheriff Mike Kanalakis today announced that Secretary of State Debra Bowen has qualified a statewide anti-gang initiative for the November ballot.

"This initiative will provide local law enforcement with badly needed revenues in order to sustain vital program," Kanalakis said. "It's tough on crime and eliminates loopholes for crooks. If we don't have safe schools, neighborhoods and streets, little else matters."
