The Fresno City Council approved a $1 billion budget Tuesday, with the only dissenting vote once again raising concerns about Police Department spending.
Council members largely kept intact Mayor Alan Autry's budget, his last before leaving office at the end of the year.
But Council Member Mike Dages continued a pattern of council criticism of some police spending proposals. Dages said he voted against the overall city budget because of funding for a southeast police station.
The six other council members voted to approve the annual budget. The budget year will start Tuesday.
Dages said he was opposed to the city spending money for a police station when developer Ed Kashian was willing to provide a location in his Fancher Creek development for a $1-a-year lease.
