SAN BERNARDINO - The Safe Neighborhoods Act, which aims to address the growing gang problem in California, has qualified for the November ballot.
State Sen. George Runner, RLancaster, and San Bernardino County Sheriff Gary Penrod announced Thursday that Secretary of State Debra Bowen qualified the initiative.
"Californians are fed up with gangs and the violence and destruction they inflict on our neighborhoods," said Runner, one of the measure's authors. "Now California voters have a chance to do what the liberal Legislature has failed to do: Pass true gang reform."
